Dianafication

Posted by theswarmite

In the Loving Relationship Training (LRT) we were taught that " love brings up everything unlike itself for the purpose of healing ", in recent days we have witnessed that death brings up everything unlike itself for the purpose of healing; fanatical, unbalanced, codependent & viral emotion. But is it functional?

The Dianafication of Michael Jackson is the product of a fawning celebrity culture while bringing up all manner of truths and myths about addiction, enablers, showmanship, sexuality and sexual secrets. Liza Minelli said on the phone to The Early Show on CBS yesterday " When the autopsy comes all hell’s going to break loose. Thank God we’re celebrating now". Remember that freakshow wedding she had to David Gest with Michael as Best Man in tow. This is a woman in the know.

When Princess Diana died in shocking unpredictable circumstances Britain had never seen such public display of grief, it’s almost as if permission was granted to loosen upper lips and standard reserve. No one can forget the unexpected unplanned rituals that followed, creating precedence, spontaneous shrines, open tears, respectful silence and the throwing of flowers onto her hearse and pathway toward Althorp, her final resting place. You don’t need a degree in psychology to understand that the nation was not crying for Diana but for their own concealed, pent up losses around abandonment in their own lives including death of family and loved ones. Abetted by Elton John the critical mass felt spellbound to follow form and come together in grief. This was not a bad thing and maybe it’s now Americas turn to turn on the tap to mass healing mourning showbiz royalty.

If everyone who loved and idolised Jackson projected that love quietly toward themselves mass healing would occur instead of mass hysteria.

An addiction can be described as an obsession that controls your life, a behavior that dominates your thinking and fan worship on the obsessive scale we have witnessed on TV news these past few days is not too far from a crack den. Global TV has witnessed tears from people whose life has simply stopped because of Jackson, who want to end their own life to join his – and this will happen. The eccentric drug addict genius would obviously become a magnet for outsiders, thrillers and wanna be’s in the fan base but the majority were attracted to his music, innovation, symbolism and leadership while many identified with the personal attacks, the lost childhood, the controlling family and the survival into isolation. But when I read the tributes, the recognition of his musical impact on future musicians, the millions of albums he sold it is all about the PAST,
not about the NOW.

Addiction does this, it destroys the potential for today and the future. In reality Jackson was a burnt out junkie living the life of ego, denial and past glory. If you feel tears for Michael, feel tears for what he has NOT produced through his active addiction.
In the early nineties Jackson entered The Charter Clinic in Marylebone London for painkiller addiction, in 2009 he left this planet still pumped up with daily Demerol.
That’s a long ride of daily agony.

The debate will continue whether this abuse of painkillers was Michael’s fault, the doctor’s fault or the family’s fault, but addiction is not self-inflicted, this is why the World Health Organisation ( WHO ) declared alcoholism and addiction a disease in 1984. Having said that, Michael has had many opportunities to wake up and recover just like any other addict. Whether these opportunities were halted by enabling doctors, family and creditors remains to be seen as the codependent seesaw of victim and controller is often blurred. However, it is healthy to see newspapers and TV News reminding us of the scandals that dominated the past 15 years of his life, not afraid to bring up the subject, for fans or fanatics still refuse to believe anything said against him. This will offer a balanced view of the idol – something the Jackson fanatics abhor. It will be interesting to view how many child abuse stories will emerge now he cannot defend and no financial gain is available. It is likely that many will want to clear the air, to come clean with safety. Before the Diana like funeral, the raking and taking will begin as people cover their arse, sell stories and fanatics start the conspiracy theories surrounding death.
It’s Diana all over again.

Today’s task is to ask yourself who you have placed on a pedestal, who you think you know completely and what addictions you own up to. Remember Rose West was a loving mum, it’s easy to be fooled.

Do you have a seat on the daily ride of agony?
Are you living in denial, the problem or the answer?
