Walk through London’s West End late on a Friday night and you will observe that dignity is the only thing NOT preserved in Alcohol. But London’s history is.
Although London’s Mayor Boris Johnson banned alcohol on the tube in 2008, to be honest it was never a problem in the first place, simply a political ruse for sub-urban voters not familiar with high jinks on the Northern Line after 10pm to make their mark.
London has always embraced dangerous colour and character – get over it.
Living two minutes from the old Camden Palace – spiritual home of the New Romantics – KOKO at number 1 Camden High Street is now the hottest music & club venue in town. Prince & Madonna have played private gigs there in homage to it’s musical heritage, so getting off at Mornington Crescent tube for KOKO on a Friday night is a spectacle in itself as girls with no coats parade at will, fueled by breezers and expectation. No one goes out without alcohol inside them anymore. Booze binge Britain – it’s in our genes. We all know and read the effect of alcohol on women, including middle class drinkers tearing into the second bottle of Sainsbury’s Red and teenage drinkers on cheap late night telly police programmes. Like Love, booze is all around us, everywhere we go. Best if we BOOZE CHECK then.
